Software problems associated with laptop ownership are in the main the same as for desktop computers.  Problems do sometime arise after a new Windows Operating System has been installed and it is necessary to search for the required hardware drivers.  Depending on the make and model of the laptop, some manufacturers do have easy to use Websites where drivers can be downloaded and installed.

However, it is often the case that a thorough search of the Internet is required to locate all of the relevant drivers, as it is not always obvious what driver is missing from the system, when confronted with the words "Unknown Device".  Quite often is the case that very few clues are provided in order to identify exactly what device requires to have software installed.

Once a Windows Operating System has been successfully installed the installation of other applications is normally as straightforward as dealing with conventional a desktop computer.

One aspect of laptop use that is particularly important, is the configuration of the Windows "Power Management" features, which if set up correctly can preserve the power of a laptop's battery, a problem that does not apply to the use of desktop computers, but is an important issue when preserving power for use when there is no DC power supply available.

Many of the software problems associated with desktop computers can be mirrored on a laptop, and can be resolved using the same troubleshooting processes.

All laptop software problems are dealt with in-house and can be resolved in a reasonably short space of time.  There are not many software problems that have not already been through my office, and I strive to get the problems resolved as soon as possible and depending on the nature of the work required, can complete the work on the same day or by the next working day. This also includes a FREE! collection and delivery service.

We also have a great deal of experience recovering data from laptop hard drives and restoring it to a new Windows installation, which can include where the hard drive has been completely replaced.  Where required we can partition the hard drive to provide independent storage space for personal data and where required a "Recovery Image". More information about Imaging can be obtained by viewing the Backup & Data Recovery link.
