Software comes in a variety of formats, and the most well-known
are the differing versions of the Microsoft Windows Operating
System. Windows has evolved over a number of years
commencing with version 3.0. When first introduced, it was
hailed as a great success, and as a result several versions were
developed and included Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, Vista
and finally Windows 7 officially released in 2010.
In order to ensure that an operating system is stable, it is
vital that care is taken when first installing it.
Accordingly, it is recommended that when installing Windows a
"clean installation" is undertaken. This means
installing the software using the installation CD supplied with
a computer, rather than upgrading from an existing installation.
Doing so, will ensure that no bugs or corrupt files are present,
that may be the case when upgrading from an existing
installation.
When completed, a clean
"Disaster Recovery Image"
can then be created. This ensures that if Windows has to be
reinstalled as a result of a defect in the future, the image
used to restore the system will be in the best possible
condition. The existence of a Disaster Recovery Image also
enables a user to carry out annual services on a system, by
using the image to reinstall Windows each year, ensuring that
the system is always in a stable state. Further
information regarding the subject of "Imaging" can be found by
visiting the
Backup & Recovery page.
We have recently seen the demise of Windows Vista, which when first
thrust into the marketplace was hailed as one of the best versions
produced since Windows XP. However, it failed to meet user's
expectations or make the grade, and was quickly replaced with the
recently created Windows 7 version, which is currently being
installed on all new computer systems.
It is too soon to say whether Windows 7 is in fact the revolutionary piece
of software it is hoped it would be, but it does offer improved user
tools including a vast database of software drivers designed to
assist with the automated installation of peripheral devices such as
printers and scanners. There is also a greatly improved
Network Connection Wizard, that makes connecting to the Internet a
very easy process.
In respect of its stability, we will no doubt have to wait and see
what user's say in due course. To help us spread the word
about whether Windows 7 is operating well, we would welcome any
feedback from users on all aspects of its operation.
Specifically, we would like to hear from users who have experienced
problems and if and how they resolved those issues. Many
customers approached us in respect of Windows Vista, and requested
that it be replaced with Windows XP, because it failed to run their
favourite older pieces of software. Users willing to share
their Windows 7 experiences with us should do so by visiting our
Contact Us page and complete the feedback form.
Installing software can sometimes be a tedius task, especially when
the completed installation does not operate correctly, or even fails due to some incompatibility issue associated with
a particular version of the Windows operating system. This
then normally requires a lengthy troubleshooting process in order to pin-point the problem and
find a way to resolve the issue. Quite often this can result
in having to try an alternative installation and can be very
frustrating for the normal user.
As well as Windows operating systems, there are also a large number
of software applications that can require a specific type of
installation and setup process in order to ensure that it works
correctly. They include business applications, such as
Microsoft Office 2007, Financial software comprising Sage or
Quickbooks, Graphical software from Adobe famous for their PhotoShop
application, Database applications including Microsoft Access, SQL
Server or Oracle. Failing to ensure that software applications are
properly installed at the outset can result in error messages being
displayed, sometimes requiring the whole process to be repeated.
ARE YOU A FRUSTRATED SOFTWARE INSTALLER!
DO YOU SUFFER FAILED INSTALLATIONS |

Why not let us be the frustrated installer. At Computech 2000
we have a wealth of experience installing a wide-range of software
applications including the Windows operating systems that currently
exist for both client and server computers, both in standalone and
networked environments.
It is also important to point out at this stage that we only install
"Genuine" copies of Windows Operating Systems, and
in doing so, we can supply OEM versions of
Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 at very competitive rates.
However, once activated on a single computer the software cannot be
transferred to another computer, and if done so will fail the
mandatory activation process with Microsoft online.
