SOFTWARE INSTALLATIONS

SOFTWARE INSTALLATIONS

Software comes in a variety of formats, the most well-known being Microsoft Windows.  The Windows Operating System has evolved over a number of years commencing with Windows 3.0.  When first introduced it was hailed as a great success.  However, several versions continued to evolve and included Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP and finally Windows Vista is slowly becoming a household name since its initial release in early 2007.

When installing an Operating System such as Windows, it is vital that care is taken to ensure that a "clean installation" is achieved, including appropriate service packs.  This will help ensure that any bugs or corrupt files that would normally be carried forward during an upgrade installation are eliminated.  On completion, an image of the new installation should then be created, in order to provide some form of "Disaster Recovery" facility should the Windows operating system fail to start at any time. The image can be stored on a separate hard drive partition from that of Windows, and also copied to a DVD disk for additional safe storage.

The creation of a clean image will ensure that a user has the ability to restore their computer to a working factory default status, should a disaster such as a serious virus attack, or some other corruption prevents Windows from working correctly. This subject is also covered in detail on the Data Recovery & Imaging page.

The decision whether to upgrade from an existing Windows installation or to carry out a clean installation often arises.  For the reasons mentioned above the first choice should always be to carry out a clean installation.  Upgrading from an existing installation can sometimes mean that any bugs, viruses, spyware or file corruption is immediately carried forward into the new installation, which can lead to problems in the future.

Other examples of software applications include:

  • Business - Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc)
  • Graphical - Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Illustrator.
  • Database - Microsoft Access, SQL Server, Oracle
  • Financial - Microsoft Accounting, Sage, Quick-books.
  • Web Design - Microsoft Expression, Dreamweaver, Cold fusion

Installing software can sometimes be a tedius task, especially when completed the software does not operate correctly, or the installation fails to complete.

Are you a frustrated software installer!
Do you suffer failed installations

Why not let us be the frustrated installer.  We have a wealth of experience installing a wide-range of software applications including operating systems for client and server computers, both in standalone and networked environments.

If you have lost or do not possess a particular software application, we are able to acquire most packages at reasonable prices, or can install it for you as part of a bundled installation.

N.B. It is important for us to point out at this stage that we only install "Genuine" copies of Windows Operating Systems. In doing so, we can supply OEM versions both from the Windows XP and Vista range at greatly reduced rates.  However, once activated the software cannot be transferred to another computer, but the whole computer can be sold on complete with the OEM software if desired in the future.
